A full body harness is what spreads the force of an arrested fall across the parts of the body that can take it — the thighs, pelvis and shoulders — instead of concentrating it where it will do harm.
That is why a waist belt is no longer acceptable for fall arrest anywhere that takes safety seriously. A belt stops the fall at the waist, which folds the body and can cause severe spinal and internal injury even in a fall the equipment technically survived. A full harness holds you upright and distributes the load.
This one has five adjustable points, with adjustable shoulder, thigh and chest straps, in 45mm polyester webbing. Adjustment is not about comfort, it is about function: a harness worn loose lets the body drop further inside it before the webbing loads, and the leg straps ride up into places you would not choose. Fitted properly, the chest strap sits mid-chest and the leg straps are snug enough that you can slide a flat hand under them and no more.
The anti-fall D-ring is on the back, between the shoulder blades, and that position is deliberate — it holds you head-up and face-forward after a fall, and keeps the attachment away from your hands where it cannot be reached and released by accident. Two further D-rings on the shoulders are for rescue and climbing, used to lift a person vertically through an opening. Do not use the shoulder rings for fall arrest.
Reflective strips on the shoulders make the wearer visible in poor light or at night.
The non-negotiables, briefly. Inspect the webbing and stitching before every use and retire the harness at any sign of cuts, fraying, chemical damage or heat glazing. Retire it completely after it has arrested a fall. Anchor above the D-ring where you can. And plan the rescue before anyone goes up — a person suspended in a harness needs recovering quickly, because suspension trauma can become life-threatening in a surprisingly short time even after a completely successful arrest.
Use it with an energy-absorbing lanyard, not a plain rope. Complies with CE requirements, supplied in a colour box.
The buyers are construction and steel erectors, roofers, scaffolders, tower and telecom riggers, and building maintenance crews.
We stock the matching energy absorber lanyard. Ask on WhatsApp and we will price the pair, delivered island-wide.
