Six insulated tools in a canvas bag: a 7" combination plier, a 6" diagonal cutter, three screwdrivers and a voltage tester. It is the compact insulated kit — the one to carry rather than the one that covers everything.

The selection is well judged for service and fault-finding work. The combination plier grips, twists and cuts. The diagonal cutter trims flush against a board. The 2.5 and 5.5mm slotted drivers cover small control terminals and larger distribution board screws, and the PH2 covers accessory fixings. The 140mm voltage tester proves the circuit dead before anything else happens.

That is genuinely enough for the majority of call-outs: replacing a socket or switch, tracing a fault, re-terminating a loose connection, changing an accessory, working on a control panel. What it will not do is a full installation, where you want long nose pliers for forming ends, a wire stripper and a wider spread of driver sizes — the 11-piece set exists for that.

Every tool is VDE/GS certified to EN60900, built and individually tested for live working up to 1000V AC. That testing is done on each tool at a voltage well above the rating, not on samples from a batch.

The two-colour insulation is a wear indicator across the whole set: contrasting inner and outer layers, so that a cut, abrasion or burn through the outside reveals the inner colour and tells you that tool must be retired. It only works if it is checked, so make it a habit at the start of a job rather than something you look for afterwards.

The canvas bag matters more than it might seem. Insulated tools protect you because their insulation is intact, and insulation gets damaged by being loose in a bag with drill bits and screws. Keeping the set together in its own bag is part of keeping it safe.

The standing rule: isolate, lock off, prove dead with the tester. These tools are your protection against a mistake, not a working method for live circuits.
