The shared core is a 7" combination plier, a 6" diagonal cutter, slotted and Philips drivers and a 140mm voltage tester. What this set adds is an 8" long nose plier, a 6" wire stripping plier, a 180mm cable knife, an extra 3.0mm slotted driver and a PH1 Philips.

Each of those covers a job the smaller set cannot. The long nose reaches into deep enclosures and forms the hook on a conductor end that goes round a terminal screw. The wire stripper removes insulation without nicking the conductor — and a nicked strand is a weak point that heats under load and fails inside a wall years later. The cable knife opens the outer sheath of armoured and multi-core cable, which is exactly the job people improvise with a utility knife and cut into the cores doing it. The extra driver sizes mean you are less often using a slightly wrong one and damaging the terminal.

Together that is a full first-fix and second-fix kit for installation work rather than a service kit.

Every tool is VDE/GS certified to EN60900, built and individually tested for live working at up to 1000V AC, with each proof-tested well above its rating rather than sampled.

The two-colour insulation runs through the set as a wear indicator — two contrasting layers, so damage through the outer one shows the inner colour and takes that tool out of service. Check the handles at the start of a job. It takes seconds and it is the entire reason the tools are made that way.

The canvas bag is doing real work: insulated tools are only protective while their insulation is intact, and loose tools in a bag full of drill bits and fixings is how insulation gets cut.

And the rule that sits above all of it: isolate, lock off, prove dead with the tester before you work. These tools protect you when the isolation turns out not to have been what you believed.
