A cast aluminium body is a single rigid piece rather than an assembly, which means the measuring edges and the vial seatings are held in fixed relationship to each other by the casting itself. On a tool that gets dropped into toolboxes and knocked against pipework, that rigidity is what keeps it accurate — the usual way a level goes wrong is a vial shifting in its housing, and a solid casting resists that far better than a moulded case with parts fitted into it. It is heavier as a result, which is the honest trade for a tool carried in a pouch.

Two magnets rather than one is a genuine improvement and not a doubling for its own sake. A single magnet gives the level a pivot point: it holds, but it can swing about that point on a round pipe or a narrow flange, which is exactly when you need it to stay put. Two magnets spaced apart hold the level in a fixed orientation, so it sits along a pipe or a section and stays there while you adjust the work with both hands. Anybody who has fought a single-magnet level rolling off a pipe knows the difference.

Two points. This reads only the ten inches it sits on — for anything that has to be true over a longer distance, use a long level, because a series of short readings will not detect a run that gradually rises or falls. And check it against itself periodically, especially after it has been dropped: read a surface, note the bubble, reverse the level end for end in exactly the same place, and it should read identically. If it does not, the level is out, and a level that is out does not look broken — it simply puts everything you set with it out of true, which you discover later and expensively.
