The 25mm width answers standout. That is how far the blade reaches out unsupported before it buckles and drops, and it comes from the depth of the curve across the blade's section: wider blade, deeper curve, more rigidity, longer reach. Three things worth knowing about any tape and worth repeating on the one you will use most. Control the rewind — a blade allowed to fly home drives the hook into the case hard enough to bend it, and a bent hook reads wrong in one direction only, quietly spoiling measurements without ever looking broken. Keep the blade dry and wipe it as it rewinds after wet work, because a tight coil of damp steel rusts from the inside. And leave the end hook alone: the small amount of play in it is deliberate, sliding by exactly its own thickness so the tape reads true whether hooked over an edge or pushed against one.
