The width is the reason to choose it over the 19mm. Blade width controls standout, the distance a tape reaches out unsupported before it buckles and folds. A wider blade has a deeper curve across its section, and that curve is what gives it rigidity, so a 25mm blade holds itself out considerably further than a 19mm one. Working alone — measuring a wall, a ceiling, a run of worktop — standout is the difference between doing the job and fetching someone to hold the end.

What you are giving up against the rubber-covered version in this range is impact protection, and it is worth deciding honestly rather than by price. Control the rewind — a blade allowed to fly home drives the hook into the case hard enough to bend it, and a bent hook reads wrong in one direction and quietly spoils every measurement. Keep the blade dry and wipe it as it returns after wet work. And the small amount of play in the end hook is deliberate: it slides by exactly its own thickness so the tape reads correctly whether hooked over an edge or butted against one.
