The dual scale is the one worth talking about, because in Sri Lanka it is not a novelty. Timber is still commonly sold and discussed in inches, plumbing and pipe fittings are quoted in inches, sheet materials come in imperial sheet sizes, and a great deal of imported hardware carries inch dimensions — while drawings, building work and most specifications are metric. Anybody working across those two worlds converts numbers in their head several times a day, and every conversion is a chance to be wrong. Two habits that decide how long it lasts. Feed the blade back rather than letting it snap — the hook slamming into the case at speed is what bends hooks, and a bent hook reads wrong in one direction only, which is the hardest error to spot.
