More hold is obvious. The longer base is the part that matters in practice — three cups spread along a bar grip a large sheet at three points, so it cannot rotate, cannot flex about a single pivot, and stays flat while you move it. On a big pane, sheet flex is a real hazard: glass that bends is glass that breaks, and holding a large sheet at one point in the middle is what bends it.

This is the lifter for large architectural glass, shopfronts and curtain wall panels, big mirrors, large-format porcelain slabs, and heavy sheet metal.

The cups are 118mm.

The safety notes matter most on the biggest tool, because the loads are heaviest and the consequences of a release are worst. A suction cup holds by air pressure and nothing else. The surface must be clean, dry, smooth and non-porous; the cups must be undamaged and still soft. Textured or curved glass, porous stone and any dusty or oily surface will not seal reliably, and the dangerous failure is the one that holds long enough for you to trust it. Set all three levers and test the hold with a firm pull before taking the weight.

With large glass, two people and two lifters is the correct method rather than one person and a bigger lifter. And never work or stand under a suspended sheet, never use a suction lifter as a rigging or anchor point, and never leave a load hanging on one for any length of time — a vacuum cup slowly leaks.

Inspect the rubber. Cups harden with age and sunlight, and a hardened cup will not seal however clean the glass is.
