Plastic Scraper

On a fixed scraper you file the edge back square, and eventually you stop bothering and carry on with a rounded edge that burnishes the surface instead of cutting it. With a replaceable blade you snap in a fresh one and get a genuinely sharp edge in seconds — and a sharp edge is what lets you work at a low angle without pressing hard, which is the whole secret of scraping without gouging the surface underneath.

That matters most on the jobs this tool is for: removing paint spots, adhesive residue, silicone, stickers and cement splashes from glass, tiles, worktops and other finished surfaces. Those are all jobs where a dull blade needs force, and force on a finished surface leaves scratches.

The body is plastic, which keeps it light and means there is no metal frame to catch the surface if you tip the tool.

It takes the #620219 blades, which are 65Mn spring steel — the same steel used for saw plate, chosen because it takes a hard edge and holds it.

Two pieces of advice worth having. On glass, keep the blade at a shallow angle and always push in one direction; dragging a blade backwards across glass is how you put a scratch across a window that cannot be polished out. And never use a scraper on toughened or coated glass — some coatings mark permanently, and it is worth testing an edge or a corner first.

Change the blade the moment it stops cutting cleanly rather than pressing harder. Blades are cheap; the surfaces this tool is used on are not.
