Fewer teeth on a blade of a given diameter means each tooth is larger and the gullet in front of it, the curved space that carries the sawdust out, is bigger. That combination cuts quickly and aggressively. Each tooth takes a substantial bite, and the large gullets clear the waste before it packs and starts causing friction. What you get is speed and the ability to keep going through thick, wet or resinous timber without the blade bogging down.

What you give up is finish. A big bite leaves a coarser surface and tears the fibres at the edge of the cut, particularly where the teeth exit the material. On framing timber, formwork, joists, battens and rough carpentry that is entirely acceptable and nobody is looking at the cut edge. On a visible edge, on veneered board or on laminate, it is not.

So this is the site blade: ripping along the grain, cutting studwork and framing, formwork and shuttering, decking, and general construction carpentry where getting through the material is the point.

The 185mm diameter is the common size for corded and cordless circular saws, and 36 teeth is the count most saws are supplied with from the factory, which tells you what the manufacturers expect them to be used for.

The body is high carbon steel plate, heat treated and tempered, with YG6 tungsten carbide teeth brazed on.
