And let the wheel rest lightly on the work, since pressing hard tears the flaps off the hub and the wheel disintegrates long before its abrasive is used up. A flap wheel that is shedding cloth is being pushed, not worn out.

Wear eye protection. Small wheels at drill speed still throw abrasive and swarf.
