T.C.T Saw Blade For Wood (110x30)

This is a useful blade on which to explain what TCT means, since it appears on every circular blade in the range. TCT is tungsten carbide tipped. The body is a disc of high carbon steel, heat treated and tempered so it stays flat and springy, and the actual cutting teeth are separate pieces of tungsten carbide brazed onto the tips of that disc. Carbide is far harder than steel and holds an edge many times longer, which is why a TCT blade cuts cleanly through hundreds of metres of board while a plain steel blade would be blunt in an afternoon. YG6 is the carbide grade specified here.

The reason for the two materials is the same argument that governs bi-metal saws: carbide is hard and therefore brittle, so a blade made entirely of it would shatter. Putting small carbide teeth on a tough steel plate gives hard cutting edges on a body that can take the knocks.

Thirty teeth on a 110mm disc is a moderate count for its size, which makes it a general purpose blade for the small saws: cutting board, ply, thin timber, laminate and panel material for shopfitting, cabinet work and site trimming.

Check two things before ordering any circular blade: the diameter your saw accepts, and the size of the arbor hole in the centre. A blade that is the wrong diameter will not fit the guard or will not reach through the material, and a bore that does not match the machine cannot be made to fit safely.
