Three hundred and five millimetres, twelve inches, is the common large mitre saw size, so this is the blade that fits the machine already on the bench in most aluminium shops. It suits window and door sections, curtain walling members, shopfront extrusion, partition framing, and general non-ferrous section work.

The technique that matters most on a saw like this is feed rate, and it is where good blades get ruined. A high tooth count blade is designed to take a small bite from each tooth, and that only works if the blade is allowed to come through the material at a measured pace. Pulled down hard and fast, each tooth is asked for far more than it was ground to take, and the results are immediate: chipped carbide, a rough torn cut, a snatched workpiece, and a blade that is finished long before its time. Bring the head down steadily, let the blade do the cutting, and listen to it; a blade that is being overfed sounds strained and the swarf comes off in long jagged pieces rather than small chips.

Clamping is the other half. Aluminium section is light and hollow, so it must be held firmly against the fence and the bed, and thin walled sections should be supported so the blade does not crush them as it exits. An unclamped extrusion will lift and twist into the blade.

Use cutting wax or a lubricant to stop aluminium welding to the teeth, and wear a face shield.

The body is high carbon steel plate, heat treated and tempered, with YG6 tungsten carbide teeth. Not for steel.
