T.C.T Saw Blade For Aluminum (254x120)

The high tooth count is what makes it an aluminium blade, and it is worth being blunt about the two mistakes people make with blades of this type, because both are common and both cost more than the blade.

The first is using a wood blade on aluminium. It grabs, snatches the section, and can throw it or stall the saw. The tooth geometry on a timber blade is designed to bite into fibres, and biting into soft metal is not the same operation at all.

The second is using this blade on timber, which people do because a 120 tooth blade gives such a fine cut. It will cut wood, and it will do it badly for long. The tiny gullets between 120 teeth cannot carry sawdust, so the blade packs, heats and burns the cut. And if there is a nail or a staple hidden in reclaimed timber, a fine non-ferrous blade will lose several teeth on it where a coarse timber blade might survive.

Keep each blade for what it is made for. It is cheaper than replacing either.

At 254mm this suits smaller shop and site mitre saws, and it is the practical size for window and door section, glazing beads, trim and lighter extrusion, as well as for site work where a big saw is not worth transporting.

Use cutting wax, clamp the work, wear a face shield, and never use it on steel.
