Below this diameter you are drilling to hold a bracket. From here up you are drilling so that a pipe, a conduit, a cable, a drain or a duct can pass. That changes what matters: the hole no longer has to grip anything, it has to be in the right place, straight, and big enough for the service plus whatever sleeve or sealant goes around it.

Heavy drilling at these sizes is what SDS-MAX exists for, with its larger shank and much heavier hammers. If large diameter holes are a regular part of your work rather than an occasional one, that is the honest answer, and it is a machine decision rather than a bit decision.
