Cup Wire Brush With Nut (75, M10x1.5)

A cup brush screws directly onto the spindle of an angle grinder. There is no adaptor involved and no washer arrangement that can be persuaded to fit: the thread either matches or it does not. M10x1.5 is found on smaller and older angle grinders. The other common thread, M14x2, is what most 115mm and 125mm machines use today, and we list the same brush in that thread as a separate item. Look at your grinder's spindle, or at the plate on the machine, before ordering. Buying the wrong thread is the commonest wasted purchase in this whole range and it is entirely avoidable.

Now what a crimped brush is for. The wire here is 0.3mm and crimped, meaning each strand is wavy rather than straight. That makes the filaments springy and slightly flexible, so the brush conforms to the shape of what it is cleaning instead of attacking it. It lifts light rust, loose paint, scale and dirt, cleans up a casting or a weld area, and prepares a surface for painting, all without cutting into the parent metal or changing the shape of the workpiece.

That gentleness is the point of the crimped pattern and it is why it is not the same tool as the knotted brushes listed beside it. If you are stripping heavy mill scale or thick coatings, a crimped brush will feel weak and you want the knotted version. If you are cleaning something you want to keep the shape of, this is the right choice.

Wear a full face shield rather than glasses alone. Wire brushes shed filaments in normal use, they leave at the speed of the rim, and they are barbed.
