Bi-Metal Hole Saw (76)

It is the downlight and small ducting size: recessed light fittings, extract and ventilation ducting, small core holes through partitions and panelling, speaker cutouts and access holes. Because it is bi-metal rather than plain carbon steel, it will also go through steel sheet and light section, which matters when a ceiling has a steel grid or a partition has metal studs in it.

Two things to settle before ordering.

The first is depth. Maximum cutting depth is 38mm, and that is a hard limit set by how deep the cup is. It is ample for board, panel, sheet and thin material. It is not enough to pass through a block wall, a slab, or anything substantially thicker than the cup, and no technique gets round it. If you are making a hole through a masonry wall, this is the wrong tool and a core drill or an SDS bit is the right one.

The second is the arbor. A hole saw needs an arbor to hold it, carry the pilot drill and drive it, and 76mm is above the range of the two arbors listed on this site. We do stock the larger arbor this saw needs; it has simply not been added to the site yet. Message us when you order and we will send the correct one with it.

Cut at a slow drill speed. Large hole saws are frequently ruined by being run too fast, because the teeth at that diameter are travelling quickly, heating up and blunting.
