Bi-Metal Hole Saw (102)

It cuts openings for ventilation and extract ducting, larger air conditioning penetrations through partitions and panels, waste and soil pipe through joinery and boarding, and large service access holes. Being bi-metal, the high speed steel teeth will handle steel sheet and light section as well as timber, board and plastics.

At this diameter speed becomes the thing that decides whether the saw survives the job. The teeth at the rim of a 102mm saw travel a long way in one revolution, and cutting speed is what generates heat. Run a big hole saw at the speed you would use for a drill bit and the teeth get hot, lose their edge and are finished within a couple of holes. Use the lowest speed your drill offers, use both hands, and keep steady moderate pressure rather than leaning on it. If your drill has a speed control, this is where it earns its money.

Never use hammer action. A hole saw cut with the hammer running will lose teeth, and the saw is scrap.

The 38mm maximum cutting depth applies here as it does across the bi-metal range, so this is a tool for sheet, board, panel and thin material rather than for masonry.

As with the other large sizes, the arbor for a 102mm saw is beyond the two listed on the site. We keep the larger arbor in stock unlisted, so tell us when you order and it will go out with the saw.
