The wheels clean along a line and into grooves, following a weld, a seam, a plate edge or the circumference of a shaft. The cups clean an area while you approach the work face on, which suits flat surfaces, recesses and the inside of housings. Between them they cover most external cleaning.

The end brush is the one people do not know they need until they meet the job it was made for. It is a small tuft of wire presented at the very end of the shank, so it cleans forward, into a hole. That makes it the tool for the inside of a bore, a blind hole, a threaded hole, a tube, a port or a passage in a casting, and there is genuinely nothing else in a normal toolkit that will do it. Anyone who has tried to clean corrosion out of a bolt hole with a screwdriver and a rag will recognise the problem it solves.
