Working Lamp (Europe plug)

Anyone who has worked under a bonnet knows the problem. You need light where your hands are, and you have two hands already occupied. A lamp that has to be held, or propped against the radiator until it falls, wastes more time than it saves. A magnetic back sticks it to the bonnet slam panel, the wing, a chassis rail, a machine frame or a steel shelf — pointed exactly where you are working, and it stays there.

It is a 10 watt LED producing 600 lumens, which is genuinely bright for an inspection lamp and enough to light an engine bay or a working area rather than just a spot. LED matters here for reasons beyond efficiency: there is no hot filament to break when the lamp is knocked, and it does not get hot enough to burn you or to damage a plastic surface it is resting against, which older incandescent inspection lamps regularly did.

The body is ABS, which survives being dropped, and the 10 metre cable is what makes it a workshop lamp rather than a bench lamp — 10 metres reaches from a socket to the far side of a vehicle or round a machine without an extension lead.

It runs on AC 220-240V with a European plug and carries CE certification. Worth checking the plug against your sockets before ordering, and noting that a mains lamp is the wrong choice for working in wet conditions or inside a tank or vessel, where low-voltage lighting is the correct and much safer answer.

Inspect the cable regularly. A trailing lead in a workshop gets run over, trapped in doors and dragged over sharp edges, and damaged insulation on a mains cable in a damp environment is a real risk rather than a theoretical one.
