T-type Crv Wrench (6mm)

The format is the point. A T-handle is held with one hand on the cross bar and one guiding the shaft, so you spin the fastener down quickly with your fingers and then apply two-handed force at the end. Compared with a ratchet it is faster on a long thread, and compared with a spanner it stays square on the fastener instead of slipping off as you re-position.

At 6mm you are working on the small fittings: interior trim and panel fixings, instrument and dash fasteners, small hose clips, motorcycle and scooter engine covers, carburettor and control linkage screws, and the little brackets that hold looms and pipes to a body panel. These are exactly the fasteners that get rounded off by an ill-fitting spanner or a screwdriver used as a lever, because they are small enough that people do not respect them.

A 6mm fastener also has very little thread engagement and strips easily. That is worth saying, because the leverage a T-bar gives is more than enough to shear one. Tighten firmly with your fingers on the bar rather than pulling hard on one end of it.

The steel is forged chrome vanadium, heat treated and chrome plated. Forging matters on a small socket end: a forged socket keeps its shape under load where a cast one spreads and starts rounding the corners of the nut. The chrome plating resists the rust that gets into a toolbox in this climate and wipes clean of oil and grease.

The honest limitation of the T-handle format in general: it is a speed and access tool, not a breaking tool. For a seized fastener, use a socket and a breaker bar where you can control the force, then finish with this.
