T-type Crv Wrench (19mm)

On many vehicles 19mm is the wheel nut size. It also covers hub and driveshaft fixings, large suspension arm and subframe bolts, shock absorber lower mounts, and heavy fasteners on light commercials, tractors and plant. These are the largest fasteners most workshops handle with hand tools rather than an impact wrench.

The T-handle format gives you a balanced two-handed pull with the socket held square, which is the controlled way to move something stiff. It also spins fast once the fastener is loose — and on a wheel nut or a long suspension bolt, the running-out is most of the time spent.

Forged chrome vanadium, heat treated and chrome plated. Forging is doing its hardest work at this size, because the torque passing through a 19mm socket end is the highest in the range and a socket that spreads will round a fastener that is genuinely difficult to remove once damaged.

Now the important part, because 19mm is where misuse becomes dangerous rather than merely expensive. A T-bar is not a breaker bar: its leverage is limited by the width of the cross bar, and heaving on one end twists the shaft and concentrates the load on one corner of the fastener. Seized wheel and suspension fasteners want penetrating oil and a six-point socket on a long breaker bar, and heat if necessary.

And wheel nuts must never be finally tightened with any tool that cannot measure torque. Under-tightened nuts come loose; over-tightened ones stretch studs and warp brake discs, and both cause wheels to come off. Run them up with this, then set them with a torque wrench, every time.
