T-type Crv Wrench (14mm)

On most vehicles 14mm covers suspension link bolts, engine and gearbox mount fixings, larger bracket and subframe bolts, some drain plugs, and the heavier fasteners around the exhaust and driveline. These are tightened to real torque figures and, being underneath the car, they corrode.

Where the T-handle wins is access and speed. A long thread — a suspension bolt, a mount stud — takes a long time on a ratchet in a confined space, and no time at all on a T-bar you can spin. And in a spot with no swing room at all, a T-handle turns where a ratchet cannot.

Where it does not win is breaking force. This is worth being straight about at 14mm: a T-bar gives you two-handed control, but the leverage is short compared with a breaker bar, and pulling hard on one end twists the shaft and loads a single corner of the fastener head. That is how a corroded 14mm suspension bolt gets rounded. Break it loose with a socket on a long bar, then run it out with this.

Equally, do not use a T-bar to set final torque on anything structural. Suspension and mount fasteners have specified figures for good reason, and they need a torque wrench.

Forged chrome vanadium, heat treated and chrome plated. The forged socket end resists spreading under load, which is what preserves the corners of the fastener, and the plating keeps rust out in humid conditions.
