Grease Hard Hose

Where a flexible hose bends round obstructions, a hard hose gives you direct, positive control. You can push the coupler squarely onto a nipple with the weight of the gun behind it, feel when it has seated, and hold it there — which is exactly what you need on a nipple that is stiff, partially blocked or awkwardly angled, where a flexible hose lets the coupler wander off as you pump.

It is also the better choice on accessible fittings, which is most of them on a well-designed machine. A hard hose is quicker to present and remove, it does not trail through dirt, and it does not get trapped when you move the gun. On a lubrication round with twenty nipples in reachable places, that adds up.

And it is more durable. Flexible hoses eventually split at the ferrule from repeated bending; a hard hose has nothing to fatigue.

This is heavy-duty hard hose made for the Harden 670101 500cc grease gun. The 900cc double-pump gun includes both hose types already, so this is the part to buy if you have the 500cc gun and want the option, or as a replacement.

The sensible arrangement in a workshop is to own both and swap depending on the fitting: hard hose as the default, flexible for the awkward ones behind wheels and inside guards.

The usual grease gun safety applies. These tools develop pressure high enough to inject grease through skin, and a grease injection injury is a surgical emergency however small the mark looks, because the grease spreads under the skin and kills tissue. Never test flow against your hand.
