900CC Grease Gun with double pump

The double pump is the first. Two pumping elements build higher pressure per stroke, which is what you need for a nipple that has partially seized, for stiff grease in cool conditions, or for a long feed line into a bearing housing. Anyone who has stood pumping a single-pump gun at a nipple that will not take grease knows why this matters — the alternative is usually to give up and leave a bearing dry.

The transparent tube is the second, and it is a genuinely useful piece of design. You can see at a glance how much grease is left, which sounds minor until you are halfway through a lubrication round on a machine and the gun runs empty without warning. It also lets you see whether the follower has stuck, which is the usual cause of a gun pumping air.

At 900cc it holds nearly double the 500cc gun, so it suits going round a machine or a fleet without refilling.

It comes complete rather than needing accessories bought separately: a flexible hose for nipples you cannot reach in a straight line, a hard hose for direct controlled access, a flat coupler for standard nipples, and a point spout for the fittings that take one.

The head is heavy-duty cast construction — the part that takes the full pressure the pump develops, and the part that distorts and starts leaking on a lightly built gun. The follower rod and spring maintain constant pressure behind the grease so the pump is always fed.

The safety point applies here more than to any other grease gun, because this one develops higher pressure: grease at these pressures will inject through skin. It leaves a mark that looks like nothing and is a surgical emergency, because the grease spreads under the skin and kills tissue. Never test the gun against your hand and never clear a coupler against your palm.
