Magnetic Welding Holder (50LBS/4"/100mm, CS-45)

Channel, heavy angle, thick plate and beam sections are not held by a small magnet; they pull it off the moment you let go, or worse, they hold just long enough to fool you and then shift as you strike the arc. 50lb has the grip to hold those sections at a set angle while you tack. The larger 100mm face is part of that: a bigger contact patch spreads the hold and gives a longer reference edge, which on heavy section is what keeps the angle true rather than letting the piece rock.

It holds at 45, 90 and 135 degrees — square corners and T-joints, mitres and bracing, and the outside of obtuse angles where no clamp will fit.

The usual discipline applies and matters more as the material gets heavier. Use two, spaced along the joint, or the work will pivot around a single holder. Clean the faces before every use, because spatter and grinding dust stop the magnet seating flat and a holder that rocks gives an angle that is out. Keep it away from the arc: heat weakens permanent magnets, and this one is expensive enough to be worth protecting. And tack both ends before running a bead, because the pull of a cooling weld will beat any magnet.

One genuine caution at this size: 50lb of magnet is strong enough to trap fingers between the holder and the steel when it snaps home. Approach the work from the side and slide it into place rather than bringing it in face-on.
