Nineteen of the sockets are six-point hex, running 8 through 32mm with almost no gaps — 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 24, 27, 30, 32mm. Six-point sockets bear on the flats of a nut, so they grip hard on a seized or slightly rounded fastener without slipping. That is the socket you reach for when something is tight.

Six more are bihexagonal — twelve-point — in the common sizes 10, 12, 14, 15, 17 and 19mm. Twelve points let the socket engage the nut every thirty degrees instead of every sixty, which sounds academic until you are working against a chassis rail or inside a wheel arch and can only move the handle a little. On a fastener that is not seized, a twelve-point gets on where a six-point will not. Having both, in the sizes you use most, is the sensible arrangement: grip when you need grip, access when you need access.

Two spark plug sockets at 16 and 21mm handle plug changes, with the deep body and rubber insert that keeps the porcelain intact.

The extension rods are 5" and 10". The 10" is the notable one — that length reaches down beside a cylinder head or through a wheel to a caliper bolt, which the 125 and 250mm rods in the smaller set only just manage. A universal joint and a three-way joint cover angled and boxed-in access, and the flipper ratchet runs 72 teeth for a five-degree swing.
