Small fasteners are the ones people most often over-tighten, because there is very little feel between "tight" and "stripped" and a normal ratchet gives you far more leverage than an M4 or M5 bolt can survive. This 1/4" torque wrench, reading 5 to 25 N.m over a 245mm length, is built for exactly that range — and it arrives as a complete kit rather than a bare tool.
What a torque wrench does is turn judgement into a number. A manufacturer specifies a torque figure because a bolt is a spring: tightening stretches it, and the stretch is what generates the clamping force that holds the joint. Too little and the joint works loose under vibration. Too much and the bolt is stretched past its elastic limit, permanently weakened, and may snap later — or the thread strips, which on an aluminium casting turns a small job into a helicoil repair. At this end of the range those thresholds are close together and quite low, which is why guessing so often goes wrong.
The tolerance is ±3%, which is a proper working accuracy for a mechanical torque wrench.
The kit contents show what it is aimed at. Alongside the wrench come a 2" extension bar, six hex bit sockets in H2.5, H3, H4, H5, H6 and H8, three Torx bit sockets in T25, T27 and T30, two Phillips bit sockets in PH1 and PH2, and a 1/4" universal joint. That is a spread aimed squarely at small assembly work — electronics and instrument housings, motorcycle and three-wheeler fasteners, machine and equipment covers, optics and camera mounts, bicycle components, and anything built with socket head or Torx fasteners into light alloy. The universal joint is what lets it reach a fastener that is not square to the tool.
The buyers are motorcycle and three-wheeler mechanics, electronics and instrument technicians, machinery and equipment fitters, bicycle workshops, appliance repairers, and hardware dealers supplying precision trades.
Look after it and it stays accurate. Always wind a click-type torque wrench back to its lowest setting before storing it — leaving the spring compressed is the commonest way they drift out of calibration. Use it for final tightening only, never for undoing fasteners, since undoing a tight bolt with a torque wrench damages the mechanism. And stop the moment it clicks rather than pulling through it.
