Thirty-two millimetres is the largest socket in this half-inch range and it exists for the heavy end of vehicle and machinery work: hub and axle nuts on trucks and light commercials, large driveshaft fasteners, heavy machinery and plant bolting, and agricultural implement fixings.
It is also the size at which we would rather give you honest advice than simply sell you a socket. A 32mm fastener is usually specified at a torque that sits at or beyond the sensible limit of a half-inch square drive. That drive is the weakest point between your hands and the nut, and it has a rating. Exceed it and the failure is not gradual — the drive square on the ratchet twists off, or the square recess inside the socket spreads and rounds. You are then left with a broken tool, a fastener that is still tight, and quite possibly a knuckle in the way when it lets go.
So if you are undoing a 32mm hub nut regularly, the right tool is a three-quarter inch drive setup, and there is a 3/4" ratchet in this range for it. If you are dealing with one occasionally and carefully, a half-inch will do it — but not with a pipe over the handle. Tell us what the job is on WhatsApp and we will say which way to go rather than guessing.
The preparation matters as much as the tool. A 32mm nut that has been under a truck for years responds far better to penetrating oil left to work, heat applied to the outer component so it expands away from the thread, and a sharp hammer shock, than it does to raw leverage. Those methods free fasteners; leverage breaks things.
The socket is drop forged from fine chrome vanadium with a matt chrome finish. Forging flows the steel's internal grain around the hexagonal form rather than cutting across it, keeping unbroken metal running through the six corners where every bit of the stress concentrates — which matters more here than anywhere else in the range, because the loads are the highest.
The buyers are truck, bus and commercial vehicle workshops, plant and heavy equipment mechanics, agricultural and plantation engineering, industrial and factory maintenance, and hardware dealers supplying heavy trades.
Seat it fully before loading, and never use a chrome hand socket on an impact wrench — plated hardened chrome vanadium is brittle under hammering and can crack and throw fragments. Impact work needs black chrome molybdenum impact sockets. Message us on WhatsApp for a price.
