The comparison with its half-horsepower stablemate is the clearest way to understand it, because the head barely changes — 32 metres against 30 — while the flow changes enormously: 6600 litres an hour against 2100, more than three times as much. That is what the extra motor and the centrifugal design buy you. A centrifugal impeller throws water outward through a single vaned wheel in one pass, which moves a great deal of water; the peripheral design recirculates it for pressure instead. So this is not a stronger version of the small pump, it is a different answer. If you need water to reach height, either will do it. If you need water to reach height quickly, or to supply several outlets at the same time, only this one will.

In litres per minute that is 110, which changes what jobs are practical. A large roof tank fills in a fraction of the time. A house with two or three bathrooms in use at once keeps its pressure instead of dropping away every time a second tap opens. An irrigation line can run more than one sprinkler. Transferring water between tanks, filling a vehicle wash tank, supplying a small guest house or a shop with a busy toilet block — these are volume problems, and volume is what this pump has.

Suction lift is 8 metres, the same as the smaller pump, and it is the figure that catches people out. It is the vertical distance from the pump down to the surface of the water, not the depth of the well. A surface pump cannot suck water higher than that no matter how powerful its motor, because it is atmospheric pressure doing the lifting on the suction side, not the motor. Measure that drop before you buy. Ports are 1 inch in and 1 inch out, matching common domestic pipework.

The buyers are plumbers sizing pumps for larger houses and small commercial buildings, guest houses and restaurants, agricultural users on irrigation, vehicle service centres, and building sites transferring water. Hardware dealers keep it as the step up from the standard domestic pump.

Look after it the same way as any surface pump. Prime it before starting and never let it run dry, because the water passing through is what cools the seal — a few minutes dry will ruin one. Keep the suction line short, airtight and free of high points where air can collect, since air in the suction line is the single most common reason a healthy pump refuses to deliver.
