This is a screwdriver you are allowed to hit. The bottom of the handle is designed for striking, which means the steel shank runs all the way through the handle to a metal cap at the end — hit that cap with a hammer and the force travels down the shaft to the tip instead of splitting the plastic.
That one feature changes what the tool is for. A paint-sealed screw, a screw that has rusted into place, a slot that has started to fill with old finish — a sharp tap seats the tip properly in the slot and breaks the bond before you apply any turning force. Trying the same thing with an ordinary screwdriver either destroys the handle or, more often, cams out and ruins the screw head. A striking screwdriver also does duty as a light chisel, scraper and pry bar, which is what most tradesmen actually use one for however much toolmakers wish they would not.
The blade is chrome vanadium, tempered. Temper is the thing to look for in a slotted driver: too soft and the tip rolls over on the first tight screw, too hard and it chips. A properly tempered Cr-V tip holds its square edges, and square edges are what keep the driver in the slot. The 6 x 150mm size is the general-purpose one — a 6mm blade fits the medium slotted screws used in electrical accessories, timber hardware and machinery covers, and 150mm of shank reaches into a recess without being unwieldy.
The handle is TPR, a soft thermoplastic rubber over a rigid core. It grips when your hands are wet or oily, which a hard plastic handle does not, and it is comfortable enough to lean on for real torque. That matters more than it sounds — most of the force you can apply to a screwdriver comes from how hard you can grip it without hurting.
Electricians, carpenters, joiners and maintenance fitters are the regular buyers, along with vehicle mechanics for trim, clamp and cover screws. It is also a standard line for hardware shops: slotted drivers in the 6mm size sell continuously, and this one is packed 144 to a carton for counter stock.
One word of care. A striking screwdriver is not an insulated screwdriver. Do not use it on live electrical work — for that, buy a VDE-rated insulated driver, and we stock those too. Ask us on WhatsApp and we will point you at the right one.
