The line that matters on this driver is "designed bottom for striking", and it describes something an ordinary screwdriver must never be used for.
A normal screwdriver has a plastic handle capped over the end of a short shaft that stops inside it. Hit that handle with a hammer and you split the plastic, drive the shaft out of the handle, or both — which is why hitting screwdrivers is one of the classic ways they are destroyed. A striking screwdriver is built differently: the shaft runs the full length of the handle and emerges as a metal striking cap at the end, so a hammer blow passes down the steel rather than into the plastic.
Why you would want to hit a screwdriver at all is the useful part. A screw that has seized — corroded, painted in, or locked by thread compound — will very often release if it is shocked. A sharp hammer blow straight down the axis does two things at once: it breaks the corrosion bond in the thread, and it drives the tip hard into the screw slot so it is fully seated before you turn. Applying that shock and then turning immediately, while the tip is bedded in, frees screws that would otherwise round out under pure turning force.
It also lets the driver be used as a light chisel or punch in a way an ordinary one cannot survive — though it remains a screwdriver first.
At 5 x 100mm this is the general-purpose slotted size. Blade fit still governs whether the screw survives: the blade should nearly fill the slot, since a narrow one rounds out the slot walls under load.
The blade is Cr-V, tempered, with a moulded TPR handle.
The buyers are vehicle and motorcycle mechanics, machinery and plant fitters, maintenance engineers, marine and agricultural workshops, and hardware dealers supplying workshops.
Two points. Strike squarely down the axis with a normal hammer, not at an angle — a glancing blow bends the shaft. And wear eye protection, since shocking a corroded fastener throws rust and paint. The handle is grip, not insulation, with no tested electrical rating. Message us on WhatsApp for a price.
