That distinction matters more than it sounds. A driver whose blade is too narrow for the slot does not simply feel wrong — it puts all the turning force onto a small part of the slot walls, which deform and round out, and once a large slotted screw is rounded it is a drilling job. Big slotted screws take real torque, and torque through an undersized blade is exactly how they are ruined. If the slot takes 8mm, use 8mm.

At 200mm the shaft has the length to reach into machinery and enclosures while remaining stout enough to turn hard without excessive twist. That combination — broad blade, substantial shaft — is what makes this the driver for heavy equipment work rather than general assembly.

Slotted heads are the least forgiving type under high torque, because nothing centres the driver the way a cross-head does. All the location comes from the blade filling the slot and from your keeping firm pressure straight down the axis. On a large tight screw, the moment the blade lifts even slightly it skids and takes the slot corners with it.

The blade is Cr-V 6150, tempered — a chromium-vanadium spring steel, chromium for hardness and wear resistance to hold the tip's square corners under load, vanadium for the grain refinement and toughness that stops a hard tip chipping. The handle is moulded TPR, and on a driver used at this torque a grip that holds in an oily hand is not a luxury.

Two habits. Push hard into the screw while turning — with a large driver it is tempting to concentrate on torque, and axial pressure is what keeps the blade in the slot. And dress a worn tip square on a grinder, dipping frequently in water so you do not draw the temper.
