Six millimetres is a broad slotted blade, and it is bought for the larger slotted screws — machine screws, panel and cover fixings, equipment and machinery fasteners, and the substantial slotted heads still found throughout older equipment and electrical gear.
Blade width is the specification that decides whether a slotted screw survives, and it is worth restating in terms of what actually goes wrong. A slotted head gives the driver nothing to centre on — unlike a cross-head, which pulls the tip to the middle of the screw. All the location comes from the blade filling the slot. If it is narrower than the slot, the turning force is carried by a small part of the slot walls, which deform and round out; if the blade is thicker or wider than the slot will take, it cannot seat and rides up out of the head under load, scarring the screw and often the panel around it. Choosing the widest blade that fits the slot properly is the single habit that keeps slotted screws reusable.
At 100mm this is the everyday shaft length: enough to reach normal work without being unwieldy.
The blade is Cr-V 6150, tempered. That is a definite steel — a chromium-vanadium spring steel where chromium provides hardness and wear resistance so the tip keeps its square corners, and vanadium refines the grain to give the toughness that stops a hard tip chipping.
The handle is moulded TPR, which grips when hands are oily.
The buyers are electricians and panel builders, machinery and equipment fitters, appliance repairers, maintenance staff, general workshops, and hardware dealers.
Three habits. Push into the screw as you turn. Dress a rounded tip square on a grinder, dipping it in water frequently — a slotted tip is one of the few driver tips that can genuinely be restored, but overheating draws the temper and leaves it permanently soft, which is how a good driver is ruined while being repaired.
And treat the handle as grip only: TPR carries no tested electrical rating and this is not an insulated tool. Isolate and prove dead first. Ask us on WhatsApp for a price.
