That situation is common in equipment work. A terminal at the back of an enclosure, a cover screw down a duct, a fixing inside a machine housing, a small screw at the bottom of a deep recess. The screw itself is trivial; the access is the problem, and a short driver simply cannot be brought to bear on it.

It is worth being honest about the trade, because a long thin blade has real limits. A slender shaft twists slightly under load before the screw moves, which takes away the fine feel you get from a short driver — and it will bend permanently if you use it as a lever. Long drivers are for reach, not for force. If a small screw is genuinely tight, get access for a shorter driver rather than leaning on this one.

The blade width remains the thing that decides whether a slotted screw survives. The blade should very nearly fill the slot; narrower and the force concentrates and rounds the slot out, wider and it rides up and out of it.

The blade is Cr-V 6150, tempered — chromium-vanadium spring steel, where chromium provides hardness and wear resistance and vanadium refines the grain for toughness. On a long thin blade the toughness matters especially, since a brittle shaft of this proportion would snap. The handle is moulded TPR, gripping well in oily hands.

Two points. Keep axial pressure on the screw while turning, because a long blade makes it easier to let pressure slip and cam out of the slot.

And a TPR handle is grip, not insulation — it carries no tested electrical rating. Never work live. Isolate, prove dead with a two-pole tester, then work; insulated screwdrivers are a separately certified product class and we would rather say so than let a handle's appearance suggest otherwise.
