The construction is what makes it different. An ordinary screwdriver has a shaft that stops inside a plastic handle, so a hammer blow splits the handle or drives the shaft through it. This one runs the shaft the full length of the handle to a metal striking cap, so the blow passes down the steel to the tip.

On a cross-head screw that capability is more valuable than it first appears, and the reason is specific to the Phillips design. A Phillips recess was deliberately made to cam out — to eject the driver at a set torque — so a seized cross-head screw does not resist you by holding firm, it resists by pushing the driver out and rounding its own recess in the process. Once the recess is rounded there is very little to grip.

A sharp hammer blow straight down the axis addresses both halves of that. It shocks the corrosion bond in the thread, and it drives the tip hard down into the recess so all four flutes are fully engaged. Strike, then turn immediately while it is bedded in, pressing hard. That sequence saves cross-head screws that would otherwise be drilled out.

PH2 is the standard cross-head size, fitting the great majority of screws in general use, and 150mm gives useful reach.

The blade is Cr-V, tempered, with a moulded TPR handle.

Three points. Strike squarely down the axis with an ordinary hammer — a glancing blow bends the shaft and can chip the tip. Check the tip before relying on it, because a cross-head form that has rounded cannot be restored and will destroy the screw regardless of how well you shock it. And wear eye protection, since shocking corroded fasteners throws rust and paint.
