S2 is a shock-resisting tool steel. It is the standard material for screwdriver bits used in power drivers and impact drivers, and it is chosen because it can be hardened considerably harder than a general tool steel while still absorbing shock rather than shattering. On a screwdriver tip, hardness is what preserves the form — a tip whose flutes have rounded slips in a recess a sharp one turns easily, and since cross-head forms cannot be dressed back by hand, tip wear is what ends a driver's life.

So an S2 PH2 driver holds its tip form considerably longer than a Cr-V one under the same use. For someone driving screws all day rather than occasionally, that is the difference between replacing a driver every few months and keeping one for years.

PH2 x 150 is the size and length combination most tradesmen use as their standard: PH2 fits the great majority of cross-head screws, and 150mm gives reach into recesses while staying controllable.

The handle is moulded TPR, gripping well in oily or sweaty hands.

Two habits. Push hard into the screw as you turn — the Phillips recess was designed to cam out at a set torque, and better steel does not change that; axial pressure is still the defence, and a harder tip simply survives longer when you get it wrong. And inspect the tip periodically: even S2 wears, and the failure is gradual enough that people carry on and damage every screw they touch.
