PH2 fits the overwhelming majority of cross-head screws — machine screws, woodscrews and chipboard screws, appliance and equipment fixings, electrical accessories, furniture and panel work — and 150mm gives enough shaft to reach into most recesses and past most obstructions while remaining controllable.

Since this is a driver used all day, it is worth spending a moment on how to make screws easier rather than harder. Three things account for most stripped cross-heads. First, pressure: the Phillips recess was deliberately designed to cam out at a set torque, so the driver must be pushed into the screw as hard as it is turned. Second, the driver's condition: a tip whose flutes have rounded will slip in a recess that a new driver turns easily, and since the wear is gradual people keep using it and damage every screw they touch. Third, size and type: PH2 is not PH1, and Phillips is not Pozidriv — a Pozidriv recess has extra ribs between the main flutes, and a Phillips driver in one contacts only part of the recess and cams out early.

Get those three right and cross-head screws stop being a source of frustration.

The blade is Cr-V 6150, tempered — a chromium-vanadium spring steel, where chromium provides the hardness and wear resistance that slows tip wear and vanadium refines the grain for toughness so the tip does not chip.
