PH1 by 100mm — the small cross-head size on a standard shaft length, and a driver that spends its life on appliance, electrical and light assembly work.
PH1 fits the cross-head screws a size below the very common PH2: smaller machine screws, appliance and equipment casings, electrical accessories, small brackets, hinges, catches and general light fixings. Using the right size is not a nicety — Phillips sizes are distinct geometries rather than scaled copies, so a PH2 in a PH1 recess bears only on the outer edges and chews it out, and a PH0 bottoms and cams out immediately.
The thing that most improves anybody's success with cross-head screws is understanding why they strip. The Phillips recess was designed in the 1930s to cam out deliberately — to push the driver up and out at a set torque, protecting assemblies from over-tightening on production lines that had no torque control. That design intent is still there in every Phillips screw made, and it is why they round out so readily under a driver that is turning but not pressing. The defence is straightforward: put real axial force into the screw as you turn. Most stripped cross-heads are made by people turning hard and pushing lightly.
The blade is Cr-V 6150, tempered. That is a specific steel — a chromium-vanadium spring steel where chromium provides hardness and wear resistance to hold the tip's four flutes crisp, and vanadium refines the grain for toughness so a hard tip does not chip.
The handle is moulded TPR, which grips in oily hands.
The buyers are appliance and equipment repairers, electricians and electrical technicians, furniture and cabinet assemblers, machinery fitters, maintenance staff, households, and hardware dealers.
Two points worth remembering. A worn cross-head tip cannot be restored — unlike a slotted blade, which can be dressed square on a grinder, a Phillips form is beyond hand repair, and a rounded tip destroys every screw it touches. Replace it.
And the handle is grip and comfort only, with no tested electrical rating. Isolate and prove dead before any circuit work. Message us on WhatsApp for a price.
