17" Heavy Duty Long Arm Riveter

That is not marketing. A hand riveter setting 4.8mm rivets in steel takes a genuinely hard squeeze, and a long run of them is tiring enough that people start setting rivets incompletely without noticing. A long-arm riveter multiplies your effort through a much longer lever, so the same rivet sets with a fraction of the force — which means every rivet in a run of two hundred gets set properly, not just the first fifty.

The trade is size and one-handedness. A 17 inch tool needs both hands, so the workpieces must be clamped or held by someone else, and it will not fit into a confined space the way a hand riveter does. It is a bench and production tool rather than a pouch tool.

It comes with five interchangeable nozzles covering 2.4, 3.2, 4.0 and 4.8mm rivets. Those nozzles matter more than people realise: each rivet diameter needs its own nose tip, and using an oversized one lets the rivet body deform where it should be supported, giving a joint that looks set and is loose.

Three habits. Match rivet length to the total thickness being joined — too short and the bulge cannot form properly, too long and the joint stays loose. Drill the hole to the rivet's own diameter, since an oversized hole leaves nothing to clamp against. And fit the correct nozzle for each size rather than leaving the largest one on, which is the single commonest reason rivets set badly.
