16" Nut Rivet Gun set

The size range is what distinguishes it. The compact hand tool in this range covers M3 to M6, which handles panel and enclosure work. Going up to M8, M10 and M12 changes what the tool can do: those are load-bearing threads, used for mounting brackets, equipment, towing and lashing points, seat and structural fixings on vehicle bodies, and machinery mounts. The other specifications are worth reading because they are unusually precise. Maximum working stroke is 7.5mm with a maximum effective stroke of 6.5mm — that is how far the tool can pull the mandrel, and it matters because setting a rivet nut properly means pulling it far enough to fully collapse the body against the blind side and no further. Too little stroke and the insert is loose; too much and the thread distorts. Being able to set the stroke to the insert is what separates a proper tool from a squeeze-and-hope one.

The nut rod is Cr-Mo — chromium molybdenum, the tough alloy used where components take high load and shock. On this tool the rod is the most stressed part: it threads into the insert, takes the entire pull, and must then unscrew cleanly every time.

Three habits. Screw the mandrel fully into the insert before pulling — a partly engaged thread strips the insert and jams the rod. Drill the hole to the insert's stated diameter, because an oversized hole lets the insert spin afterwards, which cannot be fixed without cutting it out.
