The crimping side covers insulated terminals and bare terminals, and the difference between those two matters when you use it. Insulated terminals — the red, blue and yellow ring, fork and spade terminals — have a plastic sleeve over the barrel, and the crimp die is shaped to compress the metal barrel underneath without splitting that sleeve. Bare terminals have no sleeve and take a different die profile, usually one that forms an indent into the barrel. It is worth being clear about what a good crimp is, because a crimp is not a squeeze. A properly made crimp cold-welds the strands of the conductor to the barrel of the terminal: the metal deforms enough that the surfaces bond and gas cannot get in to oxidise the joint. A crimp that is merely pinched looks identical from outside and is not connected in the same way — it is a mechanical grip on oxidised copper, its resistance rises over time, it heats under load, and eventually it fails. Some habits. Match the die colour or size to the terminal, not to the cable — the terminal manufacturers colour code for exactly this reason.
