This is the complete starting kit: a 30W iron, a spare soldering point bit, soldering paste, two lengths of solder wire and a screwdriver, all together. For somebody setting up to solder for the first time, that removes the awkward part — which is not the iron, it is knowing what else you need before you can make a single joint.
Thirty watts is the electronics rating, and the choice is deliberate rather than a way of saving money. Circuit boards, small components, fine wire, connectors and light electrical work all want a small iron. A large one dumps heat faster than the joint can spread it, and on a board that means lifted copper tracks, melted component bodies and cooked semiconductors — damage that cannot be undone. Small joints want a small iron and a moment's patience. The corollary is worth knowing too: 30W will not make a decent joint on a thick cable lug or a heavy terminal, because the joint pulls heat away faster than the tip can supply it and you end up with a dull, weak dry joint. For that work the 100W iron in this range is the right tool.
The handle is thermo-plastic — cool and comfortable through a long session.
A note on the soldering paste, because this is where beginners come unstuck. Flux is essential: metal oxidises the moment it is heated, and solder will not stick to oxide. But fluxes are not all alike. Rosin-based flux, which is what is inside rosin-cored solder wire, is safe on electronics because its residue is inert. Acid-based paste, the kind used for sheet metal and plumbing, is corrosive and will keep eating a joint for months after it looks perfect, producing a fault that appears long after the repair. On circuit boards and electronics, work with rosin-cored wire and nothing else. Save any paste for tinning and general metalwork.
The buyers are electronics hobbyists and students, technical training courses, appliance and equipment repairers, model makers, and households doing their own small repairs. Hardware dealers sell it as a first purchase and as a gift.
Learn three habits at the start and everything gets easier. Tin the tip as soon as it is hot and keep it tinned, because a dry oxidised tip transfers almost no heat. Heat the joint and feed the solder onto the work, rather than melting solder onto the iron and carrying it over. And hold still until it sets — a joint moved while freezing goes dull and weak. Solder in ventilated air and wash your hands afterwards. Message us on WhatsApp for a price, or for extra solder wire and tips.
