The useful thing about a self-adjusting stripper is that there is nothing to set. Traditional strippers have a row of notches, each sized for one conductor gauge, and every cable means choosing the right hole — pick one too large and the insulation is not cut through, pick one too small and you nick or sever strands of the conductor itself. A self-adjusting tool clamps the cable, senses its diameter mechanically, and cuts to the insulation rather than to a preset size. Squeeze once and the insulation comes off cleanly.

That matters most where the work is mixed. On site an electrician goes from lighting circuits to socket circuits to control wiring to appliance flex within an hour, and having a tool that does not need a decision each time is genuinely faster and genuinely safer for the conductor.
