HVLP stands for high volume, low pressure, and it describes a genuinely different way of atomising paint — one that puts far more of the material on the job and far less into the air.
A conventional gun uses high pressure to break paint into droplets, and that pressure also blasts a lot of it straight past the panel and back at you as overspray. HVLP uses a large volume of air at low pressure instead. The paint leaves the gun more gently, so a much higher proportion of it lands and stays. In practice that means less material used per job, a cleaner workshop, less masking of everything nearby, and considerably less paint in the air you are breathing.
The 1.4mm nozzle here is the smallest in the range, and it is chosen to suit finish work: basecoats, topcoats, clears and fine finishing where the quality of atomisation shows in the result. Fluid delivery is 180-250ml/min from a 600ml cup.
Now the catch, and it is the important one. HVLP achieves low pressure by using a lot of air: 8-11 CFM, against 3-8 CFM for the gravity and suction guns. That is a serious demand and it is where most disappointment with HVLP comes from — on an undersized compressor the gun will spray properly for a short time and then fade as the tank drops, giving a patchy finish that gets blamed on the gun. Before buying this one, check what your compressor actually delivers in continuous CFM rather than its peak or its tank size. If it cannot sustain 8-11 CFM, the gravity feed gun will give better results on the same compressor.
Working pressure is 50psi (3.5kg/cm²), weight 0.65kg, air inlet 1/4" to match the standard Japanese-type couplers here.
The buyers are vehicle refinishers doing quality work, furniture and cabinet finishers, and anyone spraying expensive material where transfer efficiency pays for the gun quickly. It also suits workshops where overspray is a nuisance — a shared space, or one with other work going on nearby.
A respirator is not optional with any spray gun, HVLP included: less overspray is not no overspray, and paint solvents do real damage. Ask on WhatsApp and we will price it with hose and couplers, delivered island-wide.
