Air Spray Gun

Nozzle size decides what thickness of material a gun will handle. A 1.4 or 1.5mm nozzle is made for topcoats and thinned finishes, and it will clog and spit if you put heavy material through it. 1.8mm passes primer, high-build undercoat, filler primer, floor and roof paint and other thick materials that would simply not atomise through a smaller opening. If you have ever thinned a primer far more than the tin suggested just to get it through a gun, this is the gun you needed.

It runs at 71psi (5kg/cm²), noticeably higher than the others, because heavy material needs more pressure to break up. Fluid delivery is 200-250ml/min, the highest in the range, and the 1000ml cup keeps up with it — a big nozzle empties a small cup fast, so the pairing is deliberate.

Air consumption is 7-12 CFM. That is a substantial demand and it needs a real compressor behind it; check what yours sustains continuously rather than what the label claims at peak. An underfed gun fades mid-panel and produces a patchy, dry finish, and it is nearly always the compressor at fault rather than the gun.

Weight is 0.75kg — the heaviest of the four, which is what a bigger nozzle, a bigger cup and higher pressure add up to. Air inlet is 1/4", matching the Japanese-type couplers in this range.

Be clear on where it sits. The high pressure that pushes heavy material also produces more overspray than the HVLP gun, so more paint ends up in the air and on surrounding surfaces. For primer and undercoat, where the surface will be flatted back anyway and the material is cheap, that is an acceptable trade. For an expensive topcoat, the HVLP or gravity gun is the better tool.

The buyers are vehicle body shops using it for primer alongside a finer gun for colour, fabricators spraying protective coatings on steelwork, and building and industrial maintenance painting.
