Tools Bag (400mm)

A bag of this size takes screwdrivers, pliers, a tester, a tape, an adjustable wrench, cutters and a handful of consumables, with the tools standing in the pockets rather than lying in a heap. The pockets are the entire point of a bag over a box: tools are visible, upright and separated, and you take out the one you want instead of tipping the contents onto a customer's floor.

It is a wear-resistant, water-resistant fabric bag, which is a genuinely different proposition from a rigid box. Fabric absorbs impact rather than transmitting it, it does not scratch what you set it down on — a tiled floor, a car bonnet, a finished worktop — and it is far quieter in an occupied building. A soft bag also squashes into a vehicle footwell where a box would not go.

The water-resistant finish matters in Sri Lanka more than most places. A bag that soaks up rain on a site keeps its tools damp for days afterwards, and damp is what rusts a screwdriver shank and seizes a plier joint.
