The built-in tray is the part that makes it work day to day. Small items — fixings, bits, tape, a knife, fuses, connectors — go in the tray where you can see them, and the bulk of the box below stays clear for hand tools. The tray lifts out completely, so you can carry just the small parts to a job, or take the tray out to get at something long underneath. A box without a tray fills up with loose screws in the bottom corners, which is where they stay.

It is polypropylene, and PP is the right plastic here. It does not become brittle with age or sunlight the way cheaper plastics do, it flexes rather than cracking when dropped, and it is completely unaffected by the oil, thinner and solvent that would mark a painted steel box.

The numbers are worth reading. The box weighs 2.18kg empty and carries up to 25kg — more than eleven times its own weight. That is the practical measure of a tool box, and it is why the load rating is stated: a plastic box that flexes under load lets the lid pop or the handle tear out, and 25kg is a genuinely full box of steel hand tools.

The handle is plastic, moulded as part of the design rather than bolted on.

The honest comparison is against steel. This is lighter to carry all day and immune to rust and solvent, which matters in humidity and around vehicles. Steel takes more abuse and will not deform if left in direct sun in a closed vehicle. Neither is simply better.

The buyers are electricians, plumbers, technicians and service engineers who carry a box daily and feel the weight, along with households and site kits. Hardware shops sell plastic boxes in far greater numbers than steel.
