Two hundred and fifty millimetres is the larger tower pincer, and the extra length does exactly what extra handle length always does on a plier: it multiplies your grip. On a pincer that translates directly into what size of nail it will pull.
Pulling a nail has two stages and leverage matters in both. First the jaws have to bite in hard enough beside a flush nail head to get underneath it — that is a squeezing action, and a bigger nail needs more force to grip. Then the tool is rolled on its curved head to lever the nail out, and a longer handle makes that easier too. On heavier nails in dense timber, a small pincer will grip and then simply slip as you roll, which is frustrating and marks the work; a larger one takes the nail out first time.
That makes this the size for structural and formwork carpentry, pallet and crate breaking, strip-out and demolition, and any work in the hardwoods common here, where nails go in tight and come out reluctantly.
The jaws are broad and sharp-edged, meeting end-on so they can close beside a flush head, and the same geometry cuts wire and nips nails off flush.
It is drop forged carbon steel, high-frequency hardened, with a two-colour comfortable dipped handle. The dipped coating is applied by dipping the tool rather than sliding a grip on, so it does not work loose — which matters on a tool that gets rolled and twisted rather than simply squeezed.
The buyers are carpenters and formwork joiners, demolition and strip-out contractors, pallet and crate handlers, shopfitters, packing departments, general building trades, and hardware dealers supplying construction.
Some technique. Roll the tool on its head to lever rather than hauling backwards with your arm — the rolling action is what the curved head is for, it takes a fraction of the effort, and it keeps the pull straight so the nail comes out instead of bending. Slip an offcut under the head on any surface you want to keep, because the roll presses hard into timber. And keep the jaws off hardened screws and bolts, which will chip them; pincers are for nails and soft wire. Ask us on WhatsApp for a price, or for the 230mm for lighter work.
