A tower pincer is a nail-pulling tool, and the shape explains itself the moment you use one. The jaws are broad, sharp-edged and almost round, meeting end-on rather than side-on, and they are designed to close on a nail head that is flush with — or already buried in — a surface.
That is the job nothing else does well. A claw hammer needs a nail head standing proud enough to hook under. A pair of pliers slips off a flat head. A pincer's sharp jaws bite in beside the head, close under it, and then the curved outer profile of the head lets you roll the tool over on the workpiece so the jaws lever the nail straight out. That rolling action is the clever part: it converts a squeeze into a lift, and it keeps the pull straight so the nail comes out rather than bending over.
At 230mm this is the compact size, suited to smaller nails, tacks, staples and panel pins, and to work where a bigger tool cannot be rolled — in a corner, against an edge, inside a frame.
The same jaws cut wire, and pincers are commonly used for snipping nails and wire off flush, which the end-on cutting geometry does neatly.
It is drop forged carbon steel, high-frequency hardened, with a two-colour comfortable dipped handle. High-frequency hardening puts a hard, wear-resistant surface on a tough core, which is what the cutting jaws need — hard enough to keep a biting edge, tough enough not to chip when they close on a hardened nail.
The buyers are carpenters and joiners, shopfitters and formwork carpenters, upholsterers pulling tacks and staples, packing and crating departments, demolition and strip-out crews, general maintenance, and hardware dealers supplying building trades.
Three practical points. Roll the pincer on its head rather than pulling straight back with your arm — that is how the tool is designed to work and it takes far less effort. Put a thin offcut or a piece of card under the head on a surface you care about, since rolling the tool presses hard into the timber and will bruise it. And do not use the jaws on hardened steel screws or bolts, which will chip the edges; pincers are for nails and wire. Message us on WhatsApp for a price, or for the 250mm.
